Biography
In the beginning, Mystry initially plied his trade by mixing classic house, eventually progressing onto trance and then Drum and Bass.
“I did my first gig when I was 16. I compiled this smart Leftfield-based set and then banged it out at the Music Box in Manchester! It was only a 45 minute set and even though I kept it all Leftfield-based, people were lovin’ it and it was buzzin!”
At the age of 21 Mystry began to grow tiresome of how easy he was finding it to mix House & Trance, he wanted a new challenge and decided to start mixing Hip Hop and R’n’B in early 2002.
“I always loved old school Hip Hop, so I got my hands on some classic tunes and things just progressed from there.”
After realising his own potential, Mystry began producing his own mix tapes and promoting himself.
“I was loving it, the plaudits starting coming in and I knew people were starting to take notice.”
Inevitably, this led to him receiving accolades from both Semtex & G-Child from BBC Radio 1 Xtra and being invited to perform alongside the two at various club nights around the Midlands and also included a special appearance on the Def Jam UK Tour.
DJ’s at Manchester radio station ALL FM (96.9FM) soon noticed Mystry’s unique talent and as a result asked him to become a fully fledged member of the Urban lick family on the Urban Lick show to play the very finest Hip-Hop and R’n’B. Co-incidently, this was where Mystry crossed vinyl with G-Soundz for the first time and also where the Sweet Irony of Music was born…
The “dynamic duo” have been hypnotizing crowds as a unit and individually ever since…
