Biography
Ricky Chilli Source is standing in a club preparing to play a set while he chats to a fellow DJ. The other DJ asks him “So Chilli...what’s your last record gonna be?” Chilli Source laughs and responds “Only the crowd can tell me that”. Ricky Chilli Source is a DJ first and foremost and what he plays is 100% dictated by what the crowd wants to hear. “I’m a crowd DJ, my sole aim is to make the crowd dance”.
Ricky got his big break back in 1991; when the Soul Kitchen team asked him to play at what was then London’s biggest RnB, Hip Hop, Soul club. Ricky was quickly given a Soul Kitchen residency, making him a number one face on the Soul, R&B and Hip Hop scene. With such a prominent residency, Ricky soon hooked up with the cream of London’s club nights including Confunktion, Ministry of Sound, Iceni,The End, Collosseum and the legendary Fresh&Funky, and finding time to promote his own red hot quarterly parties under the ‘Dancin ‘n’ Prancin’ monicker. At the same time Ricky was infamous for promoting a night in North London called ‘Chilli Source’ which he quickly became synonymous with and thus the name ‘Ricky Chilli Source’ was born.
